Chawlsten

A few weekends ago we spent time in Charleston with our new friends Tonna and Adam. We had such a blast. We played some Bocci on the beach, ate some yummy Mexican, took a Graveyard Ghost tour, walked around a haunted jail, and enjoyed all the yumminess of the Taste of Charleston festival at the Boone Plantation. Its so nice to have friends again!
Boys at Dinner

Spooky!

The Creepy Haunted Graveyard we toured

Our Tour Guide was fantastic!!

This was probably the most creepy thing we saw...an abandoned stroller in the middle of a graveyard...very peculiar

At the Haunted Jail we walked around

Taste of Charleston!mmmm SOOO delish!

Ever have one of THOSE days; where all these little things keep going wrong? Where its not so bad that you can really justify complaining about them, but enough to really annoy you? Its days like this that make me wanna pop a tranq. and smmmiiilllleeee

Jack the Stripper

Of all the horrific childrens stories luring out there do you know which one is the absolute worst?..

Charlotte's Web.

For those of you who know me best, you are aware that there are 3 creatures in this world that frighten me to my core....sharks, spiders, and men in speedos.

The later stems from a rather traumatizing experience I had while on a study abroad to Bavaria when I was 16, involving Lake Geneva and my bus driver. Don't ask

It seems that once again bugs have come to try and dominate me. Little did I know earlier this year that the invasion of ants that I suffered was preparing me for something much much worse.

Spiders.

Did I mention that I HATE SPIDERS...I mean I am not only terrified of them, I deeply LOATHE, no ABHOR them to the depths of my soul!

Spiders are Satan's creatures. These little spawn have gathered their selves all over our door way. I am not kidding, they are ALL OVER! Its disgusting and I look like a maniac trying to get into my house as fast as I can trying to avoid them.

Nasty right? Wanna know the worst part? One of these things actually got INTO my house, yea. You know how I know??? HE FRIGGIN BIT ME! On the back of my ear! EVIL! I mean honestly, what is this sick fascination bugs seem to have with my ears, is there honey in there??? Seriously, this bite is huge Its like a big, juicy, succulent red apple back there.I tried several times to get photographic documentation but the angles just weren't working for me.

We have had maintenance come and sweep away their webs on more than one occasion and by night fall, they are back in full force and there are more every time. These babies are like kudzu; or at least...they were....

Say hello to my little friend..

Jack.
Little did I know upon purchasing my festive friend that he would be the answer to all my problems. As soon as I hung this bad boy up all the spiders were gone...GONE! He stripped them away! My little Jack the Stripper, my brilliant brilliant friend. That's right spiders I was victorious before and I am victorious again. Jack is here to stay baby!

Oh and don't you worry, once Halloween is over I have a "Welcome Harvest" that is ready to take over.

You think you can invade my house? pppfff bugs, please. If good ole Jack doesn't get ya, my maintenance man and his Spider Spray can will!

Hasta La Vista Suckers!

As of Late

Sooo I suppose it is time for an update. Things have been especially awesome lately. GB is doing superb at balancing full time school and full time work. Too be honest, I feel a little guilty when I see other friends complaining of never seeing their spouse because of school and work, since we get to see each other a pretty healthy amount :)

I have been working and doing some little projects around the house to help make it feel more homie and complete. I am also gonna go ahead and toot my own horn for a second and say that I have been quite the little home-maker lately. I have been in a real make-it-from-scratch mood and feeling extra motivated to keep a super clean home. GB is loving me a little extra these days :)
Here are a few things I have made....

Home-Made pesto lasagna...MMMM sooo delish! GB LOVED it. I have to get creative from time to time since he hates all red sauces. Yes, I know...crazy right?

I also just found this recipe and made this after conference today to welcome my favorite season. Pumpkin Mouse Pie, MMMMM pumpkin, I am only slightly obsessed with you. I also made a HUGE batch of my favorite cookies to go along (pumpkin chocolate chip of course ;)

We have really been enjoying our new ward and have even made friends with a "golden couple".

Allow me to explain, "golden couple" are a young, fun, married pair who have not yet procreated. BELIEVE me, around these parts they are few and VERY far between. But to have a couple where you like BOTH of them?!! that's what makes them golden...We have been lucky in our marriage to find them everywhere we have moved except the last time we were here in Columbia...yes, this semester has been LOADS better than the last one.

What else what else, OH, so still heart my job, of course how can you not love these adorable mugs?

They are so much fun, everyday is an adventure, literally. Some days we build a ship in the tree and sail away, other days we hunt for monkeys. Its fantastic and I love it.

Here is a sneak peak at our place, sorry parentals, I am still wrapping up a few little things..then Ill show the rest.

AAAnnnd, last but certainly NOT least, we bought a scooter. Say hello to scootie scoots! We got a smokin' deal and LOVE him!

Yes, things are prettay, prettay, pretttay good over here in our neck of the woods.
