We went to Savannah ya'll

This weekend GB and I headed to Savannah with our pals. I hadn't been since the 8th grade and I was stoked. It was absolutely lovely!! The beautiful weeping trees and Spanish moss were just as I remembered. Savannah certainly is a charming town with an elusive eery feeling. Perfect for Halloween weekend.

We started the trip off with some delish french food right off of Market Street.

We of course had to follow lunch with a brisk walk and a stop at the Sweet River Candy shop. This place was banging! We got to watch them make and wrap taffy, it was mesmerizing! We also got a free fresh sample...mmm

We spent the whole afternoon meandering the city and riverwalk. I love history and Savannah has PLENTY of it. The weather was great and the sun was shinning. It was a fabulous afternoon.

Oh yea, we shopped a tid bit and I got this cute little owl hat. I realize it is a child's hat but my head is small and I sorta have a huge thing for owls

I loved this church. Sitting in it made me feel like I was in Italy again...glorious

Tonna made a friend on the bus..haha she wanted her picture taken. Sweet little ole' thing.

We also drug our poor friends through an antique store...they our my fav..and GB's as well. This was was WICKED! It had a plethora of treasures. It was also dirt cheap. LOVED IT. I made a few friends inside. I also scored some AWESOME old school Savannah window panes, which I am fixing up for our house. Pics to come soon ;)

On to dinner.....wow. This. was . so . hard. The boys looked up a place before we even headed to Savannah. "Supposedly" one of the old church's has an annex buffet attached with the best friend chicken and macaroni and cheese in Savannah. After arriving at our destination...several times via GPS, we discovered no such annex exists. Hungry and irritated we debated over where to head next, so after about 20 minutes or so we made up our minds we were heading to Angel BBQ down town. ...Well, it was located in a suspicious looking alley, ummm what the monk? oh yes, yes it is in fact here, but wait, whats this sign??

No food for us. Tonna and I started hysterically laughing...I mean seriously? Out of food??? Poor Adam didn't really see the humor. To be fair, we were on a time crunch to make it to our ghost tour. We ended up finding a delicious hibachi/sushi place. Hey, worked great for me, that's ma favorite food.
On to the meat and potatoes....our Spooktacular ghost tour. I REALLY enjoyed it. While the graveyard one we did in Charleston was good, this one actually gave me the creeps. Our guide was an odd duck but was perfect for the job. I never realized how creepy Savannah was, or just how many murders go on here until this tour. WORTH. MY. MONIES.
The Mercer house..you should look this one up ;)

Creepy old mental house/hospital...PS there is a hanging tree right outside. umm what?

We saw a few more, but that's enough pics for now, you get the picture. Even though it was kinda early we turned in. We were beat from a LOOONG day of walking. We spent the next day seeing the few sites we missed the day before. Here is Forsythe Park. They had a Jewish festival going on. It was pretty neat.

Remember that hanging tree I was talking about?? Here it is in the day. Pretty right? Sad what it was used for, and even sadder that the folks of Savannah say the reason its so big and lush is the "special fertilizer". Freaks

Here we are checking out my FAVORITEST part of Savannah. Bonaventure Cemetery. Its one of the most beautiful places on earth. Yesh, I just said that. It's true. I just love it.

After the cemetery we hit up a local cafe for some lunch and bread pudding. Before we skipped town we headed to another antique shop. I found some pretty sweet stuff inside.
My dream...a Gone with the Wind display case full of movie goodies, if only I was rich.

Do I look good or what?

Oh Savannah, you are beautiful. You had so much to offer ..... even the Beibs

Can't wait to see you again

Caro-me Away.....

This morning Garrett and I made our way up to Charlotte NC, to go to Carowinds. Carowinds is the Amusement park of the Carolina's (hence the name CAROwinds). Having grown up by six flags I wasn't sure how great it was going to be, but I LOVE roller coasters and had a hankering to ride one.

The verdict?

it. was. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was like a little girl in a Disney store. It had everything and the grounds were so pretty. Fall is DEFINITELY the time to go to coaster parks. We only had to wait in one line all day, yes ONE...its Saturday people.....SAT.UR.DAY. No one goes in October I guess and I don't understand why because the weather was superb.

Hey by the way, did you know that Garrett gets extremely motion sick very easy? Well, he does. Wanna know whats the fastest way to gross me out?? Vomit in front of me...I can seriously handle ANY bodily function except that. Well folks....today, GB did it...ON A COASTER. The name? The Hurler... appropriate? I think so. He blew chunks the second he buckled into that baby and had to get off before it even started. I had my eye on that crap the whole ride, thankfully I came out puke free...Can't say the same for the people behind me.

I ended up riding a few more rides alone so his belly could settle. Not as much fun alone but don't worry, i'm a trooper and I managed to have fun anyway :)

All and all it was a fabulous day... the only thing that could have made it better was doing the night fright...Scareowinds. The whole park was decked out like crazy and tempting me all day. Sigh, even with much pleading and begging I could not convince Garrett...maybe next year. Regardless, I had a blast.

Oh Carowinds...you make me soul happy. Here are some of the pictures from our day.

I am in TWO states at once..

A woman's heart

"A woman's heart is an ocean of secrets"
Yep, stole that quote off the movie with the most retarted ending. I mean really Rose?? that door was big enough for both of you, you lazy hog!

Anyway, the quote is still so true. I don't think any man could ever understand the depths of a woman's heart, how she really feels, the loss she has suffered and carried with her, the love, the regret. Sometimes I find myself staring at other woman and thinking, "what is her secret?"

Yes a woman's heart is the most curious thing, its like a mans brain, no one really knows what's going on in there.

I wish I had the ability to put ALL sorts of my heart on paper or in a song...alas, I have not the talent nor the bravery for such things. But lucky for us ladies Adele does...and that is why I love her...this is just one of my many favorites of hers. I feel like I know her soul when I hear it..and it comforts me.

Not Adele, but a beautiful, moving cover non the less.

State Fair

This weekend was filled with all sorts of awesome.
We started Friday off having dinner with the Petts.

Dear little Addie, how I love her!

After dinner GB's and I headed over to Finlay park to meet up with our pals for play in the park, while I didn't fully understand what was going on, it was nice to go out and do something cultural. Oh and bonus, we got to pet a Golden/poodle mix, she was soo sweet! I loved her. After we left we got frozen yogurt..mmmm
As much fun as we had on Friday, it was allll about Saturday Bayba!

This is how we do it in the south baby!! Good ole fashioned fairs where you gorge yourself with all kinds of high calorie fried delicacies and feel zero ounce of regret, where you can ride unstable rides till you puke up all the grease you just shoved down your throat, where you can dress how EVER you please, where you can blow money on dumb games to win stuffed animals you will never know what to do with...oh yea baby. That may have been the longest run on sentence ever, but it was a good one!

We of course went with our dear new pals the Johnsons! Needless to say....I was like a kid on Christmas...I believe I even giggled.
Here is a list of what I ate:
1:Giant Turkey leg; ya know like the ones you get at Disney that are all hopped up on steroids (dinner of course)
2: Fried Snickers...I highly recommend this
3: Fried Oreos
4: Fried Cookie Dough
Yesh, I limited my self, it was hard but I was able to enjoy the evening because of it.

Behold; The Fried Snickers

As you can see, I really really enjoyed it

Since our men are slightly sissy, Tonna and I rode the crazy rides! They were AWESOME!!!!

GB played a few games and even won me an adorable little giraffee! LOVE

Oh yea and we saw...get this....AN ELEPHANT SHOW!!!!!!!! glorious!

I friggen heart the heck out of the fair!

Once again, a successful weekend! Its so nice to have friends!
